It’s true that radio waves cannot pass through metal, but a home would have to have steel walls, steel-plated floors, a sheet metal roof, iron support beams, and an aluminum staircase to prevent a wireless home security system from working.

Home security is a subject that is on the minds of many people. Some neighborhoods just attract home intrusions as well, particularly homes where the burglar can count on usually finding something of value that will make the risk of breaking in worth it. Often these kind of homes are found fairly close together and so a neighborhood can easily become a target for burglars.

However, there is an extremely effective tool in fighting this kind of illegal activity, and it has been proven to work many times over in one neighborhood after another. That tool is a neighborhood watch program. You may ask, just what is a neighborhood watch program? Well simply put, it is a cooperative effort on the part of neighbors in a particular area or on a street to pool their efforts together to track any suspicious activity that may be taking place in their neighborhood to try to prevent burglaries in the first place.

Bear in mind that there is no such a thing as a perfect home security system or alarm. All designs are a compromise and selecting and installling different forms of home security products are not an exception.

Why do these neighborhood watch programs work so well? Think about it from the aspect of the burglar. They usually like to scope out an area or house before making the burglary. They also like to have an easy and quick entry and exit with little likelihood of being seen or observed as they go about their business. A neighborhood watch program represents a serious threat to all of that.

Make an initial survey of your house and from there, develop a home security plan.

If a neighborhood is on high alert to suspicious outsiders, they find it very hard to be able to do any advance surveillance of a home without someone reporting them and having to deal with law enforcement. And that also lessens the chance that they can get in and out of a home in that area without someone noticing what they are doing. It often just isn’t worth the obvious risk to the burglar and so they move on to a different area where the opportunity for success is much higher instead.

Now it is important to note that just simply putting up signs in the area saying that a neighborhood watch is in effect is not enough. The neighbors have to actually actively participate in the program to make it effective. And once the word gets around that a neighborhood is watching and protecting it’s own, usually the crime there drops significantly.

So if your area has been hit hard by burglars consider forming a neighborhood watch program to enhance home secuirty for everyone in that area.

The Ultimate Guide To Home Security. The Complete Guide To Home Security, Locks, Alarms Systems, And Security Camera Systems Designed To Protect Homeowners. E-book.

Home automation involves automation of many tasks. One of these is the security of your dwelling. Home automation security is an important feature for your safety and well being. Home automation security provides security and peace of mind for many homes and businesses. Basically, home automation systems make it look as though vacant homes and businesses are in fact occupied. This is achieved through the timed used of televisions, lights and other methods. Home automation systems can be the difference between your home being hit by a burglar and your home being passed over by one.

One can either use wireless technology or hardwired security systems. Wireless is gaining popularity in an attempt to do away with complicated and confusing wiring operations. Wireless transmitters, receivers, and controllers can add the convenience of wireless sensors. Using wireless transmitters and receivers you can easily place sensors in out of the way or hard-to-access areas, without having to run new wiring. Wireless security cameras are also extremely useful.

Hardwired security costs lesser but its installation is time consuming. It requires the ability to hide wires in walls for a neat installation. Wireless alarm systems, on the other hand, are more easily installed and can be added to or moved to a new location with ease. Typically, hardwired systems are installed during a new construction and are more reliable than their wireless counterparts.

Install a home security system that will monitor all the doors and windows in your home and sound a loud alarm when someone is breaking in. You may even want to subscribe to an outside monitoring service that will call local law enforcement after making sure that any alarm that is triggered is not a false alarm.

Many types of security devices exist. Door alarms and emergency exit alarms are vital. Even though burglars may break in through windows, doors must be secured. Door alarms work on one of two types of systems: a closed circuit or an open circuit system. This same idea is also used in window alarms. In either if the circuit breaks or in the latter when the circuit completes upon the opening of a door, an alarm is sounded.

Security cams are also good. First you must decide whether you need an indoor or an outdoor system and whether or not to use closed-circuit or wireless cameras. Day or night use will also affect the type of camera you by, some have built in infra-red that allow them to ‘see’ in the dark.

Do a home security checkup. Put on your black hat and walk through your home, inside and out, with the eye of criminal.

One can also install instant calling to specified numbers in case of a break in which will contact such numbers for help. Also other devices such as taped dog barking upon approach by an intruder can be installed. Adequate lighting is also important. One can put motion sensors lighting up the path if someone approaches your gateway. Keep burglars at bay with heat-sensitive motion sensors, door/window sensors, ear-piercing sirens, etc.

Essentially a home automation security system must be reliable, cost effective and deterrent. It must be able to give you a good night’s rest and assure your safety.

We all know how important home security is however let’s face
it if you don’t automate tasks you forget:

Clear your throats ladies and gentlemen, dont mumble, as we look at the best voice recorders on the market -remember to speak clearly so we can hear you.

The 288hr digital voice recorder does just that -it has a storage capacity of 288 hours with upto 72 hours recording time -small, sleek and can has a quick start recording option even when the device is switched off -definetley one to consider. The covert USB datastick can be switched on discreetly and has 2gb of memory to record on, with a 20ft radius to capture sound, an autosave feature so data can be saved before the battery dies and it can record continously for 4-5 hours. The Solar voice recorder is aboutthe size of a £2 coin, but is voice activated, can be carried around disguised as a necklace and can record for upto 18 hours (though the 1gb version can record for upto 150 hours) -also has a lithium battery for night time operations. Password protected with a 15ft range for audio, the Stereo voice recorder has 60 hours of battery life but is only 3/4 the size of a matchstick.

And here’s some spy equipment to consider.

The ’tissue  box’ recorder uses similar technology to a two way mirror, the camera inside can see out, but people cannot see into it- will record for 6 hours continously onto a sd card which can be plugged into the pc to view the data and has a rechargable battery. ‘Listen through walls’ uses a special amplifier which can hear through walls 12 inches thick. Great for gathering evidence about noisy neighbours. The GPS Pelitracker is a weatherproof, dustproof and crushproof tracking device that can stick to the bottom of a car, and can watch the cars progress from Google Maps and Google Earth, also sending SMS movement alerts. The ’3G DAB radio’ can stream real time audio and video footage to your phone and functions as a digital alarm clock with a camera completely invisible to the naked eye.
